The President of the United Africa Royal Assembly (UARA), H.I.H. Prince Estifanos Matewos, has learned with deep sorrow of the passing of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, and an eminent statesman of Africa.
On behalf of the United Africa Royal Assembly, its leadership and members across the continent, the President extends his heartfelt condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, the Odinga family, the Government and people of Kenya, and to all Africans mourning this profound loss.
“H.E. Raila Odinga was a beloved elder and a towering African statesman whose lifelong service to Kenya and to our continent was truly exceptional. He will be remembered with deep respect and affection as a symbol of resilience, courage, and hope for millions. His steadfast pursuit of democracy, freedom, justice, and inclusion uplifted not only his nation but inspired generations across Africa. His support for traditional leaders, and his dedication to continental integration and socio-economic transformation, will continue to echo through the dreams of the Africa he so passionately served,” said Prince Estifanos.
Reflecting on their shared experiences, the President added: “I hold treasured memories of our encounters over the years, most profoundly, the eight months we closely worked together mediating between the Tanzanian Business Community and the Government under the late President John Magufuli. That period revealed his deep commitment to socio-economic progress, peace-building, and regional cooperation. His wisdom, humility, and foresight reaffirmed his role as a unifying regional and continental mediator, always guided by a vision of shared prosperity and peaceful conflict resolution for Africa.”
“His genuine humanity, warmth, and wit left a lasting impression on me. The time we shared remains deeply meaningful, and I shall always remember his example with great fondness,” the President remarked.
The United Africa Royal Assembly joins the Government and people of Kenya, and the entire continent, in celebrating the remarkable life, service, and enduring legacy of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
